Chair - Victoria Cruz Blanco

Chairman

Hi everyone! I am Victoria Cruz Blanco and I am from Madrid, Spain. I am currently in the third year of the chemical engineering BSc. I like music, watching shows (modern family for the win) and drinking cute cocktails with my friends! Being a part of the GTD Bernoulli’s board 41 is such an honor and I’m so excited to see what I can do for all our members! You can always email me or text me with any questions, and see you guys soon!

What does it mean to be chair?

The main task of the chairman is to lead the board and make sure that tasks are performed well. They are the ones who prepare the agenda to highlight what must be discussed during a board meeting. All General Members Meetings, which are organised four times a year, are led by them. In addition, they have contact with other chairs during the SAM meetings, discuss both BSc and MSc Vierhoek meetings *alongside the Commissioner of Educational Affairs* and have contact with the U-raad parties. It is also important that the chairman knows the workings of the association and the wishes of the members, so attending activities and coffee hours is certainly an important task as well.

Secretary - Lisa Mulder

Secretary

Hello everyone! My name is Lisa, I am 20 years old, and I am from Gieten, Drenthe (NL). Currently, I have entered the third year of the Bachelor's in which I hope to achieve my Bachelor's diploma in Chemical Engineering. Apart from uni, I like to engage in many side quests such as meeting with friends, playing the ukulele, and doing various sports (wish me luck on running the 4 Mijl in October…). I am really excited to be on Board 41 of G.T.D. Bernoulli, and I look forward to filling this year with many fun activities and good memories! Mostly, you will find me on the Zernike campus, but feel free to reach out to me anytime:).

Being secretary:

The secretary is like the mechanic of the association; they keep the association running as smoothly as possible. Sometimes they need to do organizational maintenance, and sometimes they need to build a new system to make their other board members’ jobs a bit easier. They are the first point of contact for new people who join the association, so they get acquainted with many people. They also get a chance to express their creative writing through the monthly members mailing or through the wacky emails they write to the other brother or sister associations.

Being a secretary means learning a lot about working systemically and figuring out the best and most efficient way to do certain tasks!

Treasurer - Anas Navid Shaikh

Treasurer

Hi! I’m Anas, a master’s student in Chemical Engineering at the University of Groningen. Since I’m in my final year, I decided it was time to experiment with something other than reactors and equations – money! That’s how I ended up as Treasurer of G.T.D. Bernoulli.

When I’m not busy keeping an eye on our budget (and making sure we don’t accidentally blow it all on snacks), you’ll usually find me at the gym, following sports like football, NBA basketball, or F1, or just hanging out with friends and roommates. Whether it’s going out for movies, grabbing food, or just having a laugh, I’m always up for a good time.

I’d describe myself as a fun, easygoing, and slightly too jolly person, and I’m really looking forward to a great year together with my fellow board members.

What do you do as treasurer?

The main task of the treasurer is keeping an eye on the budget and making sure that money is being spent responsibly. This means paying incoming bills as well as sending bills to the companies cooperating with G.T.D. Bernoulli. In addition to this, they are responsible for collecting fees from members for activities and consumptions.

One of the most important things to do is bookkeeping. This ensures that during the year they have a clear overview of both the income and expenses. By keeping track of this, it is easier to steer the flow of money in the right direction. This all happens in accordance with the budget approved at the General Members Meetings. Additionally, there is an Audit committee that checks in on the income and expenditure of the association every month.

Commissioner of External Affairs - Eline Hülsmann

Business Relations

Heyy! I'm Eline, I'm from Wassenaar, the Netherlands and I am going into the third year of the bachelor. When I'm not busy studying I like to go kickboxing, hang out with friends, make music, cook, be creative; never a dull moment! Don't hesitate to approach me when you see me wandering around uni, I'm always up for a chat! Let's make it a great year together!

Your responsibilities as Commissioner of External Affairs:

The board member responsible for Business Relations represents the association to external parties like companies. Their main responsibility is ensuring that the association earns enough money to keep running. This is done by maintaining partnerships with companies and looking for new sponsorship opportunities. Additionally, they are in charge of organizing career activities such as excursions, lunch/borrel lectures, and case studies.

During a year of Business Relations duties they learn a bit more about how the corporate life works and create a network within the chemical industry, which helps them after graduating!

Commissioner of Educational Affairs - Ádám Süli

Educational Affairs

Hi everyone!

This year I’m excited to take on a newly introduced role as the Commissioner of Educational Affairs, and I’m now in my second year here. I’m originally from Szeged, Hungary, also known as the City of Sunshine.

Outside of my studies, I really enjoy cooking, spending some time by the water and chilling while fishing, and also getting lost in a good book.

If you ever have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat, feel free to reach out to me anytime. I’m looking forward to the upcoming year and will do my very best to support everyone!

What does being Commissioner of Educational Affairs look like?

The Commissioner of Educational Affairs plays an important role in managing all aspects related to education within the department. They act as the primary link between students and professors, serving as a point of contact and ensuring that communication flows smoothly. They take an active role on the education committee and represent students' interests in BSc and MSc Vierhoek meetings where decisions that impact the curriculum and academic experience for students are being discussed. In addition to this, the Commissioner maintains close relationships with the programme directors and professors of the Chemical Engineering department, collaborating to address any issues or opportunities for improvement. They might be part of or keep in contact with the student representatives of the programme committee.

Commissioner of Internal Affairs - Mark Apostel

Internal Affairs

Hello everybody, my name is Mark and I'm happy to be part of Bernoulli's board 41 as the Commissioner of Internal Affairs. I think of myself as a laid-back guy, who likes sports, music, good vibes and having a great time together with my friends. As the one responsible for the good working of the committees and other internal matters, I hope to make everyone have fun throughout this year with amazing events, while also making sure the inner workings of our association are in order!

Being Commissioner of Internal Affairs means bringing the party, as well as:

The commissioner of Internal Affairs is responsible for the inner workings of the association. This includes ensuring good communication with active members, the promotion and recruitment of new members, and supervising the committees. This is done by coordinating a monthly meeting with the comittee chairmen. Lastly the commisioner of Internal Affairs makes sure the feeling and concerns of the students are heard by the association, as well as the faculty. The assigned confidentiality persons can be found here.
