Dear student Chemical Engineering,
On behalf of the OSTS, we would like to invite you to join the OSTS excursion to Venlo and Antwerpen which will take place on March the 10th and 11th. The OSTS (Overleg Scheikundige Technologische Studieverenigingen) is a collaboration between TG (Delft), T.S.V. ‘Jan Pieter Minckelers’ (Eindhoven), C.T.S.G. Alembic (Enschede) and G.T.D. Bernoulli (Groningen). On the OSTS excursion, 32 students of Chemical Engineering from the whole country will meet one another and have fun during an instructive excursion.
Program
This year three companies will be visited. The first day will be hosted by Océ in Venlo. Océ is one of the largest printing and ink manufacturing companies in the world. On the site of Venlo the R&D department of the company is present. The excursion will take the whole day and afterwards we will travel to Antwerpen for dinner and we will stay there for the night in a hostel.
The following day we will visit two companies in the harbor of Antwerpen. In the morning the site of specialty chemicals manufacturer Evonik will organize a program for us. At Evonik Antwerpen, 10 different chemicals are manufactured. Notable chemicals are: MTBE, Hydrogen Peroxide, Hydrogen Cyanide and Methionine. In the afternoon we will visiting their neighbours named Covestro which is part of Bayer. At the site of Covestro polycarbonate is produced. After both visits we will travel back home to Groningen.
Costs & Application terms
The costs of the excursion are €30.-. Travelling costs, hostel and food are included. From each city, a minimum of 8 people are allowed to join the excursion. This number of people might increase, however this will be dependent on the interest of the other associations from other cities. You can sign up at the Bernoulli website. If there are more than 8 applicants, there will be a selection where master students get priority over bachelor students.
